Ever since childhood, I have felt a deep sensitivity to life and sought out calm quiet spaces. I still yearn for spaces that warm my heart and soul. To this day, crowds bring an overwhelming sense of tension in my body, mind and soul. Providing a safe and nurturing environment for healing, recovery and growth is something I feel so passionate about.

This has also propelled me into researching generational similarities.

Epigenetics is the study of how our environment affects our gene's expression. Recent science is showing how our emotional environment profoundly affects our genes. One of the most astonishing findings is that we inherit traumas from our ancestors up to seven generations back!

Descendants of survivors of war, for example, can inherit the same stress responses to trauma, such as hypervigilance, that their ancestors did. In a 2018 study scientists discovered that even an odor associated with a traumatic event would trigger a stress response in the later generations of mice, even three to five generations later!
Another group of scientists gave the smell of cherry blossoms to mice. Then they exposed them to anxiety-provoking stimuli at the same time. The mice quickly learned a fear response whenever they were exposed to cherry blossoms from then onward. That makes sense, but the astonishing finding was with the offspring. The following generations who were never exposed to the anxiety provoking stimuli also responded with trauma anytime they were exposed to cherry blossoms!

What is tremendously exciting to me in this work is that we help our future generations by creating new patterns within ourselves.

If you are interested in this work, I would love so much for you to join me this summer at the Omega Institute in upstate NY, so we can practice this work in a group setting. You do not need any prior yoga or meditation knowledge. Just come as you are in your cozy clothes, and be you. We will do the healing work together.

Waking up in my childhood home with mom sleeping peacefully in the room besides me. I was so happy when I saw a gentle dusting of snow at the beginning of the sunrise. It’s the full moon. A very powerful full moon today. This new moon feels like a gentle reminder from nature to be in the flow. To breathe deeply through any uncertainty, and to trust the power that gently creates a flower from a simple seed. That seed is provided with everything she needs. If she is a pink rose, her dna is already established, and she will become the pink rose because she IS. The sun, moon, rain, nutrients and angelic love are already within her field. She allows herself to grow. She embraces the new when she cracks out of the seed and grows through the dark soil, and she is birthed into a new environment. Often exactly where she is meant to be. March is a powerful month astrologically. One thing that is so important right now is a sense of kinship and community. The rose thrives in a garden with other roses. They communicate energetically. 🌹🌹They thrive together. Embracing new changes in life is so much easier when we remember we are never alone. There are thousands of invisible angels connecting us daily. Just like the rose. She flows into existence. We flow into newness. One day at a time. 🌸

The planets are aligned to begin that new something. New moon on/around Friday is a great time to plant new seeds to harvest for 2023. What have we been giving too much energy to which no longer serves us? What have we been avoiding which is part of our soul’s purpose? One word for the new year helps. Love, magical, purposeful, healthy, wellness, family, relationships, faith. Choose anything. And then everyday check in without judgment or expectation, but with observation. Is this interaction, choice or moment aligned with my word? Is this aligned with my highest vision for 2023. Most of all, be gentle with it. Make it fun. This life is so precious. Be delicate with your gentle heart… but do connect with the wise self inside over the next few days. Love, Karena xo
